On Friday December 16th our Visitors Centre opened its doors to welcome a very special activity: Wine matched with.... Christmas carols!
According to a study by Professor Adrian North of the department of psychology at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, music not only affects our attitude and perception of the stimuli around us but can enhance the flavour of a wine by the type of melodies heard at that time. Based on this, and with the Christmas holidays upon us, we decided try out an activity to convey the lively, fun and family essence of this time of year. The proposal resulted in a nocturnal visit to our winery, accompanied by wine pairings and live music, recited in the form of carols by the choir of Sant Martí Sarroca.
The activity began at 6:30 p.m. with the first group, composed of members of the choir and their companions. At 7pm, the second group, consisting of over sixty visitors, toured our facilities and at the end, enjoyed the expected wine pairings and carols.
The particular "set list" was: Chardonnay Atrium accompanied by the song “l'Oblit”, Atrium Merlot with “Fidels atenseu-vos” and Atrium Cabernet Sauvignon with “El noi de la mare”.
After the matching, the 117 people who attended the activity enjoyed an aperitif of Catalan sausage and tomato bread. On closing, some people were encouraged to accompany the choir of St. Martí in the traditional carol "El 25 desembre“.
After this first successful experience we hope to repeat next year.
Merry Christmas!
